Eleanor Oakes Award
This award recognizes significant achievement in any field of zoo or aquarium endeavor. The focus of this award will be on recognizing projects of a smaller scope or budget in one of four categories.

Peter Karsten Conservation Award
This award recognizes an individual or institutional achievement in the field of conservation. Applications are encouraged for projects in the fields of conservation education, “green” operations, habitat preservation, species restoration or support for biodiversity.

Col. G.D. Dailley Award
This award recognizes achievement in propagation and management programs that lead to the long-term survival of at-risk animal species or populations.

Animal Enrichment Award
This award recognizes creativity of design and implementation of initiatives that foster enrichment for the animals in the collection of a member Zoo or Aquarium. The award recognizes projects that create a positive environment that compliments the species’ physical, mental and social needs, while maintaining an environment that reflects their natural environment.

o Novel Objects/Toys provided as a way of providing interest/activity
o Sensory Stimulation *one point for each category to maximum of 5 points (Visual, Olfactory, Auditory, Tactile, Taste stimulation)

The Animal Care Professional Award
Rewards innovation and contribution to any zoo-aquarium program by a zookeeper or an aquarist.

Volunteer of the Year
This award will recognize the valuable contribution a volunteer has made to a member Institution of CAZA in a given year. While only one award will be given out in any one particular year, all nominees will have their names read out at the CAZA Fall Conference and recorded on a historical honor role.

Certificate of Merit
There are many people who devote numerous hours to activities that promote their facility, the animal world, or the CAZA organization. The Certificate of Merit may be awarded to honor such individuals within the CAZA organization for their extraordinary contributions to the zoo and aquarium world. This is an opportunity to acknowledge their efforts!

CAZA AWARDS GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION
The following guideline is to help you complete your submission. Please refer to the criteria sections that are applicable to the award you are applying for.
- Award Being Sought;
- Name of organization;
- Contact name, telephone no., fax no., e-mail;
- Title of Submission;
- Paragraph summarizing submission: (To be used for promotional purposes if required);
- Purpose of submission; (Your submission could be considered by the awards committee to qualify for another category. Please stipulate if this is acceptable or if your award should only be considered for the category being sought).
- Detailed Description of the Submission which outlines the following (if appropriate):
- Significance to the community, province, and/or nation as a whole.
- Significance to the zoo industry in Canada, or internationally
- CAZA goals and objectives that are supported by the submission.
- How does this differ from any similar programs done by another zoo and/or agency?
- Any news clippings, letters of support or commendation, other awards that can be used to support your submission.
- Each submission must include a minimum of 3 jpeg photos. DVD or power point presentations can also be submitted to describe or illustrate the submission. This material will be used during the awards ceremony to help describe the project to the members, as well as to help describe to the project to the awards committee.
- For the Baines and Oakes awards, a letter of support signed by the CEO of the institution must be submitted with the proposal.
